사전배치물자(APS-4:Army Preposition Stock 4)로 활용할 미군의 M2A3 등 신형 브래들리 보병전투장갑차 100여 대가 12일 부산항에 도착했다.
주한미군은 이날 신형 장갑차의 도착과 관련해 “왜관의 캠프캐롤로 수송된 후 미 APS-4로 비축될 것”이라며 “군용 장비의 대체를 통해 주한미군의 작전수행 능력과 전투태세를 최상으로 유지하게 될 것”이라고 강조했다.
사전배치물자란 유사시 미군 증원전력이 도착하는 시간을 줄이기 위해 증원되는 병력이 사용할 장비를 사전에 전진배치시켜 두는 것을 뜻한다. 그중에서도 APS-4는 한국을 포함한 아태 지역을 위해 비축한 물자를 의미한다.
